The judging consisted of various criteria, including design, usability, innovation in technical features, standards compliance and content. In order to win this award level, the site had to meet strict guidelines in each area — an achievement only a fraction of sites in the IMA competition earn each quarter.
Involving the community in New York City’s website redesign was a part of NYC’s “Road Map for the Digital City,” a strategy review published by Bloomberg’s office in May. In interviews with citizens for the strategy paper, city officials discovered some residents felt the website should be more intuitive and easier to navigate.
The ICANN board has voted to approve the new gTLD program, which was first announced three years ago. The new program will significantly expand Top-Level Domains (TLDs) to allow companies, organizations and even cities to turn their own brands into domain name extensions.
